Description:

I was born right here in Fort Myers, Florida on January 6th 1977. As a small child my uncle
introduced me to the sport of fishing in the Sanibel and Pine Island back bays. I've been
hooked ever since! He taught me how to tie knots, how to throw a cast net and how to catch
fish. I've learned that there are never two days of fishing that are ever the same. The only
thing that's consistent with fishing in S.W. Florida are the inconsistencies. The fishing varies
from day to day based on the moons, tides and weather etc... I've inherited his theories of
fishing and acquired some of my own along the way. I've fished Fort Myers and Sanibel
Island, my whole life and spent a lot of time on these waterways scouting for areas which
may be rich in Snook, Redfish, Trout and Tarpon.

Now I have the opportunity to guide my clients through those Mangrove Islands, that have
provided me with endless hours of fishing memories. Come spend a day with FishSkinner
Charters, so I can show you the beauty of fishing the back bays of Fort Myers and Sanibel
Island on Florida's Gulf Coast.

Fort Myers and Sanibel Island Fishing Report 08.04.12

One of the most extreme forms of fishing in the inshore waters of Fort Myers and Sanibel Island is shark fishing. This type of fishing can be challenging and unpredictable which is why it's become a popular charter for those thrill seekers out there. Prime time for shark fishing is June through September when the water is the warmest.  Once the Sun starts to fade into the horizon, through the morning hours is the best time of day to catch this predator. We will throw out...

Sanibel Island Fishing Report 05.18.12

With the beginning of the Tarpon migration starting about a month early this year, they have been our primary target the past few weeks of April and May.   Just like with any species of game fish, no two days are ever the same.  This applies to the sliver king as well.  There's been days where there's been reports of guides jumping more than 18 tarpon in a day.  Then the next day, it's a hunt to find them. Yesterday we had our lines in the...

Gulf of Mexico Fishing Report 04.08.12

It's been a few weeks since I've had some time to catch up on my sleep, gather my thoughts and sit down to write a fishing report.  I've been fishing EVERYDAY since the 2nd week of February, so although I've had a lot to report about.  I just haven't had the time or energy to put it in black and white.  So here we go...   The month of March has brought Fort Myers and Sanibel Island with some of the best weather we've had in year...

Sanibel Island Fishing Report 09.28.11

September has been a great month for redfish here in Sanibel. Redfish of all sizes have been eating everything from white bait, pins and cut bait. I had a family down from Wisconsin this week who booked a fish/lunch trip. We went to one spot and set there for hours catching red, after red, after red. We never had to leave that one area. We then took 2 of the fish to a restaurant for lunch where they fried them up for us. The weathers cooling down and the waters not too busy this time of year,...

Sanibel Island Fishing Report 11.09.10

The winter has come even earlier in 2010 than the year past. Lets hope this is not a sign of whats to come. Last years continuous cooler temps killed off a lot of our Snook. I appreciate the continued Snook ban but would hope that they have time to flourish without the threat of more dying off. They truly are a beauty. I choose to catch and release whether there's a shortage or not. I'd hope that other anglers and or guides (in particular) choose to do the same.   In regards to the co...

Sanibel Island Fishing Report 08.16.10

The fishing's hot right now in Fort Meyers and Sanibel Florida. Charters a plenty, we've been having a lot of luck with the Redfish and Snook. I think the rain we've had the past couple weeks from the tropics have cooled down the waters, allowing the fish to want to come out and play a little bit more. I've been chumming with white bait and it works every time. Check out the latest pictures from our charters on http://www.fishskinner.net       FishSkinner Fishing Charter...
