Mosquito Lagoon and Tarpon Fishing Report
Bumper Sticker of the week:
This week’s Mosquito Lagoon and Tarpon Fishing Report:
Monday morning Scott Radloff and I braved 20-25 knot winds and thick overcast to try fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon. I got a redfish on my first cast. I would love to say “then it got better.” That may be a bit of an exageration. We did get a half dozen each of reds and trout though, including some very solid fi...

Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Steve Meek and David Johnson, co-founders of Fulcrum Group from Keller, TX, and associates were in Fort Lauderdale FL attending the VentureTech Network convention and decided to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale aboard the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team. We had winds out of the east at 7 mph and indigo blue waters on the 2nd reef with 1-2 ft seas.

Spring River Fishing Report 05.16.13
The water level on the Spring River is fishable. This is a great place to wade fish when they are running water on the White and Norfork Rivers. Canoe season will soon begin and the canoeists can a problem. Fish the upper river at the Lassiter Access to avoid them. Be sure to wear cleated boots and carry a wading staff. There is a lot of bedrock that can get very slick. The hot flies have been olive woolly buggers with a bit of flash, cerise and hot pink San Juan worms and Y2Ks....
Dry Run Creek Fishing Report 05.16.13
Dry Run Creek has fished well. The hot flies have been sowbugs and various colored San Juan worms (worm brown, red, hot fluorescent pink and cerise). Small orange or peach eggs have been very effective. Use at least 4X tippet to increase your chances of landing these big fish. Carefully handle and release all trout. Take the biggest net that you can lay your hands on. Some of these fish are huge. While you are there take a few minutes to tour the adjacent Norfork National Fish Hatchery. It...
Norfork Lake Fishing Report 05.16.13
There has been wadable water on the Norfork almost every day. The action has picked up somewhat. With no wadable water on the White, it can get crowded, particularly on the weekends. You should fish early or late to avoid the crowds. The most productive flies have been small (size 20 or smaller) midge patterns like zebra midges (black or red with silver wire and silver bead) and Dan’s turkey tail emerger or soft hackles like my green butt or the partridge and orange. There has also be...
Crooked Creek Fishing Report 05.16.13
Crooked Creek and the Buffalo River are navigable. With spring here, the smallmouths are active. The most effective fly has been a tan and brown Clouser minnow. Carefully check the water level before entering Crooked Creek or the Buffalo River. There are no dams on these streams. They both have large drainages and are prone to flooding during and following any rain event. The water can rise very quickly....

White River Tailwaters Fishing Report 05.16.13
On the White, we have had no wadable water. The hot spot has been the section from White Hole down to Wildcat Shoals. The best time to fish is early morning or late in the afternoon. Midday can be slow. The hot flies were prince nymphs, zebra midges (black with silver wire and silver bead or red with silver wire and silver bead), pheasant tails, copper Johns, pink and cerise San Juan worms, gold ribbed hare’s ears and sowbugs. Double fly nymph rigs have been very effective. Try a smal...

Boca Grande Pass Fishing Report 05.15.13
2013 May 15th fishing report.
First I apologize because I have not posted in way too long.
Venice to Boca Grande fishing is awesome and business has been great and I am tired when I get home. I do have some opening coming up soon and we are enjoying prime time tarpon action. We have big, to very big silver kings and usually encounter hundreds of fish per day. Several usually bite if we...
Fort Pierce Inlet Fishing Report 05.15.13
Inshore:
Lots of sunshine around the Treasure Coast lately has made for some great fishing weather. Afternoon showers will loom around the area each afternoon, but they move in and out quickly most days for us. The water has cleared up from the recent rains and it makes for some exciting fishing action. It's a wonderful time of year to enjoy the fishing!
Get out early to enjoy some great top water action. Try the new DOA Airhead as a top water lure on t...
Atlantic Ocean Fishing Report 05.16.13
The good news around Beach Haven is the continued presence of striped bass in the bay and inlet waters. Some catches of larger bass, 50-plus pounds, just north of Long Beach Island, bodes well for those big spring bass for ocean anglers trolling and jigging with live bunker. In addition to the bass, the bay is loaded with bluefish and a goodly number of weakfish
The captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association...
Atlantic Ocean Fishing Report 05.12.13
We fished on a ½ day trip on Mothers Day 5/12/13 with Joe Levy his wife Paige , his children Mia and Cole. Also joining them were their friends Peter and his son Brandon. This was our first Striper trip of the year. The reports have been spotty we decided to start fishing a few miles north of our inlet. Conditions were nice a 3 to4’ SE Swell and smooth seas. The water clarity was fair and we had 53.5 degrees .We marked a little bait and fished up the line . We got ou...
Fraser River Fishing Report 05.15.13
Fraser river Sturgeon fishing is now really getting steady and results have been great for fish averaging 4-6 feet and bigger ones around 8 feet. From now until late November is a great time to book for Sturgeon.
Salmon fishing for Chinooks will probably open around July 27(Saturday) but we won't get the official word until early/mid July.
Pink salmon will return by the millions starting about August 21 and will finish about Oct 3. October will have some fine Chinook and Coho an...

Indian River Lagoon Fishing Report 05.15.13
Summer brings several things that improve the fishing in the central lagoon area, some of which include stable weather, light winds and increased variety and numbers of baitfish. The light winds open new territory to small boat anglers (i.e. the ocean). This allows anglers a chance to pursue species that are out of their reach the rest of the year, as well as having better conditions to fish the inshore waters. Being able to get outside the inlet is going to be more important thi...

Vancouver Island BC Fishing Report 05.15.13
May 2013
It feels like summer is here on the coast. We have had some incredible weather over the last week and there is no sign of it ending right now. We have been blessed with very little wind making the fishing around Victoria extremely comfortable.
Salmon fishing the past week has been great at Constance bank. Good numbers of feeder Chinooks in the 8-12lb range have been holding on the bank feeding on big schools of needle fish. The...
Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 05.15.13
Most of the fish we are catching on the big G are in 14 or less feet and are biting a variety of baits. Spooks and pop r type baits are working well around visible grass lines. Senkos are still working also. Bigger fish seem to be in the 8 to 14 feet range on the outside grass lines. Crankbaits, swimbaits, a-rigs, big worms, and spinnerbaits and 1/2 to 3/4 oz. traps are all producing. There are fish out deeper in ditches and main river grass but the water is still dirty on the main ri...

Tarpon Springs Fishing Guide, Capt. Rich Knox’s fishing report, inshore fishing and nearshore fishing waters are teaming with all our favorites at this time, with the cooler spring weather we are experiencing. Inshore when the wind is almost any direction except West the Big Tarpon are coming through the area very good, you most likely can find them on one side or the other of the barrier islands, best baits have been horse minnow’s,...

Atlantic Ocean (FL) Fishing Report 05.01.13
Today we fished with Ken and Larry. Now where these guys are from really is not the important part of this fishing story but where they are living for now is. These two guys along with their wife’s are traveling the world aboard a crew ship called the Silver Whisper and from the sounds of the few stories they told us they are having a ball.
They pulled into Port Everglades this morning and made plans to fish with us this morning before pulling back out this afternoon he...
Eagle Lake Fishing Report 05.13.13
We are going to have low water here again this year, however fishing will be very good in the south basin early as the fish will be concentrated here. We still have some dates open and will have three boats on the water here in June. Click on waters we fish-Eagle Lake for dates and info at the top of this page. (Tom Loe is under permit from Lassen National Forest Service to guide Eagle Lake)....
San Joaquin River Fishing Report 05.13.13
The road to Red Meadow will be opening by Memorial Day, this is very early. The SJ will be very fishable early on this year and not blown out by heavy run-off. Fish will be eager to hit most dry fly attractor patterns like Trudes, Royal Wolfes, Humpies, Stimulators, Sofa Pillows, para chute hi-vis mayfly adults-#14-16. There remains more downed tree removal to be done again this year so be aware of the INFS postings near campgrounds. (Tom Loe is permitted by the Inyo Natio...
Bridgeport Reservoir Fishing Report 05.13.13
The fish are concentrated near Rainbow Pt, 9-13 feet. Midges and some callibaetis coming off on the nicer days. The marina is fine for launching smaller boats, water level is dropping to levels that may not work for larger craft. Conditions are very good now, get it before the weeds set in and levels drop too much. Look at the drop-off in Buckeye Bay towards Rainbow. Find a slope, or the edge of the submerged peninsula. Some action along the east shoreline towa...
Adobe Pond Fishing Report 05.13.13
Conditions are good here early on and the fish are active and eagerly hitting midges in the morning. The late mornings and afternoons have been slow, with a poor showing of callibaetis thus far. The fish are larger here this year on average and I caught the best brown ever here while scouting. If you like gorgeous scenery, wild trout, and the seclusion of private water give us a call.
BW with a quality “Dobe” brown. Dry dropper and sig...
Hot Creek Fishing Report 05.13.13
I wish we had more water to fish here. It gets comfy when conditions are this good and it can be tight, especially on weekends. Flows are fine currently, look for low water and weedy conditions as the spring rolls into summer. Midges, mayflies, caddis-they are all showing up on the menu. Fish the far stripes/slots in the weed lines for the biters. I like a #20-22 para-midge with a 10 foot leader-5X for surface action. Try attractor patterns in...
Owens River Fishing Report 05.13.13
Flows have been bouncing around from 220-260cfs. Pretty sweet for this time of year, you will find some great fly fishing at times in the wild trout section and while drifting with us. This is a plus for a low water year. Strong caddis in the afternoons, we are seeing some sucker fry along the slack water which has made for some good streamer fishing. Take advantage of these low flows this time of year, it is rare to get such warm weather and stable flows...
