Bottom Fishing South Florida with our new friends from Canada

Bottom Fishing South Florida

Today we fished with Serge, Guy, Jilles from Quebec and Peter from Ontario Canada.

These guys were looking for some action and some laughs.

We started out catching small bonitos and as it turned out these guys were having a ball doing this. After everyone caught more than enough of these bonitos J.J. set 4 of these bonitos out on a triple hook rigs and we slow trolled them around just to see what would eat them. First Jilles caught a nice barracuda than Serge hooked into a big sailfish but I am sorry to say that once this sail started jumping all over the place he managed to kink the wire and got away. (RATS)

While everyone was having a ball but it seemed we stopped getting bites so it was time for plain C.

So in came our live baits and we did some deep drops in about 350 feet of water.

The second our bait hit the bottom we were Hooked Up and Peter landed a nice snowy grouper.

Next drop BAM Hooked Up again and this time Guy landed a nice Jack.

To our new friends from Canada thanks a bunch for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up it truly was a ball fishing with you guys.

Kite Fishing in Fort Lauderdale with George and Barbra

February 1st, 2012

Kite Fishing in Fort Lauderdale

Here we are on the first day of Feb. and what a great way to start out the month.

We had Barbra and George from New York aboard and Big Game was the kind of fish we were after.

On our way out we picked up a dozen live baits from the bait boat and went right out to 130 feet of water and sent out both our fishing kites with 2 live baits suspended from each kite.

At first fishing started out slow but that all changed once this big sailfish swim up and took off with our left long kite bait. Than all at once he was gone. (RATS)

But wait here comes another sail on our right short bait and 2 more on the right long bait!! All hell broke lose at the same time and at last we were Hooked Up!! George jumped in the chair as the sail was putting on this great show for us jumping all over the place. Once the fish settled down the back and forth tug a war began. George would gain some line than the sail would take it right back.

Finally after a good 10 min George started gaining on his fish.

After another good 15 min we finally had George’s sail fish at the boat.

Once again fishing (hours of boredom interrupted by moments of chaos!!)

Nice going George.

Sail Fishing in South Florida

Well here we are on the last day of Jan and finally we had a cold front and this should mean (SAILFISH!!)

We headed out fishing with Jean, Marie, Nyan and Melissa all from Victoriaville, Quebec Canada.

We stopped by the live bait boat on our way out and picked up a bunch of goggle eyes (live bait) than headed right out to 150 feet of water and set out 2 kites with 2 live baits suspended from each kite.

It only took a couple of min before our first sailfish showed up rather I mean the first couple of sails and BAM just like that we were fighting 2 sails at the same time.

A good 25 min later we had both sails next to the boat and released. Within seconds Captain J.J. got all the baits back out on the kites and BAM again connected anther sailfish. Once again a good release and back to getting the baits back out there.

This went on and on we ended up seeing a total of 10 sailfish and caught 5 of them. Baring in mind we seen 10 but we got 5 bites and caught all 5.

Now that’s a good morning of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of South Florida.

Sail Fishing In Fort Lauderdale

Today we had Anthony from Mass.

We started out getting some live goggle eyes (live bait) from the live bait boat than we went right to it in about 150 feet of water. We set out 2 kites with 2 live baits suspended from each kite.

Ok the trap is set now we wait than all of a sudden out of nowhere 2 sailfish at the same time crashed our baits and BAM we were Hooked Up with a double header.

We only had one angler but that was fine Anthony spent some time on one fish than back to the other back and forth tug a war but at the end of it Anthony got both fish to the boat.

(WAY TO GO Anthony)

2 Sails with 1 angler that was pretty cool fishing!!

The only bad news was it was a bit on the rough side to say the least and we never got any pictures.

Anthony thanks again for fishing with us off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.
