Deep Sea Fishing Ft Lauderdale

Today we had J.J. and Tom from Delray Florida, Paul, Joe, Joe, Mike and Mike from Conn.

We tried trolling the reef with no bites so than we trolled little feathers around a shipwreck and caught some small bonitos that we than dropped down on another ship wreck with the same results no bites (RATS).

Ok time for another plan we went tile fishing in about 400 feet of water and BAM FISH!! Ok now we were catching and things were looking up a bit for us.

We ended up catching a box full of tilefish more than enough for their fish fry.

Ok now it was time for big or bust.

We sent out our kites with live baits suspended from them along with a couple of big shark baits down deep.

The trap was set and the wait began! We waited and waited but I am sorry to say that today we just could not catch any big game fish.

Guys I am sorry the big game fishing was slow.

I don’t like writing fishing reports with no big fish hooked up but it is fishing and while we fish in our back yard everyday and we do know where and how to catch them some times you can’t always catch the big ones.

Mike thanks so much for bringing the gang down to fish with us aboard the Hooked Up and we are looking forward to doing it again next year.

Bottom Fishing in Fort Lauderdale

Bottom Fishing in Fort Lauderdale

Today we had our Friend Sean from Kentucky who brought along his good friend Steve also from Kentucky.

They were looking to do a little bottom fishing for some good eating fish to bring back home and than Captain Greg is going to bring them up to Lake Okeechobee for some bass fishing.

As it turned out the bottom fishing was red hot with us landing a box full of tilefish.

If you’ve never tried tilefish before I must say give it a try. It is one of my favorite fish to eat and I am not a big fish eater.

Next time any of you readers come fishing with us aboard the Hooked up ask us about the tile fishing and if the conditions are right we will do our best to get you hooked on these great eating bottom fish.

Also a quick note Greg, Sean and Steve had a great time fishing in Lake Okeechobee catching over 20 bass a day and some of them 5, 6 and even 7 pounder!!

Sean thanks again for coming down and we are looking forward to seeing you guys up in Kentucky this Nov.

Kite Fishing in Fort Lauderdale

Today we had Steve and Seth from Indiana, Paul and Andy from Minnesota, Tim from Ohio and Lea from New York.

Once again right to kite fishing we went and once again it paid off with Andy catching a nice sailfish.

Sails are starting to show up better and better everyday and once we get a good cold front WATCH OUT they should be here stronger than ever.

Guys it was a ball fishing with you and out of all the boats out fishing this after noon you were the only one we heard of catching a sail this afternoon. Pretty work.

Sail Fishing in Fort Lauderdale

Sail fishing in Fort Lauderdale

Today we set out fishing with Patrick, Dan, Tom and John all from Minnesota.

Once again trolling the reef was slow with Patrick landing a small bonito.

Ok time for plan B so out went the kites with live baits suspended from the kites and BAM Sailfish on the right long kite bait. Dan jumped in the chair and the fight was on. This turned out to be a good 25 min back and forth tug a war and at the end of the fight I sorry to say the sailfish was pretty much dead. Due to the long fight and the hook being down his throat he just did not make it

But all the same what a monster sail fish. Nice going Dan.

Quick side note guys we really do our best not to harm these fish but now and than one gets hooked bad and some of them do die however we do make sure the fish does not go to waste and we get the fish smoked and it does get eaten.

Thanks again to our friends from Minnesota for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.
