The fishing is going off in Fort Lauderdale this week, the dolphin are just about everywhere. Yesterday's all day fishing trip aboard the Mary B III caught 30 mahi-mahi. They were trolling a current edge in 450 foot of water, just 3 miles offshore of Fort Lauderdale. Capt Rod, my brother was the captain that trip. They caught dolphin throughout the day, keeping 30 and releasing and jumping off at least that many more. The dolphin fishing has been superb all month, with just about every trip we've had catching at least a few dolphin. Some really big bull dolphin are biting out there too. I caught a 38 pound bull last week and our drift boat, the Catch My Drift has landed several big bulls in the 25-30 pound range this week. The strong east winds we're having is the reason for this awesome dolphin fishing. It usually isn't this good!

Sailfish are also making their presence known on the reefs. With these strong winds, we're spending a lot of our trips kite fishing, which is great for sailfish and bigger dolphin. On our best days, we're seeing 5-7 sailfish when kite fishing. Setting up kite fishing in about 150-200 foot of water is all but a guaranteed bite on a sailfish or big dolphin. There is some serious deep sea action to be had right now, get out there while the fishing is good. Good luck everybody, sea you on the water.
