United StatesFort Lauderdale Charter Fishing/ December Forecast
Submitted by All-Inclusive Sportfishing
Submitted on 12/06/2011Charter fishing off Fort Lauderdale in December can be a number of things but the MAIN thing is Sailfish. Even as I write this report, a recent cold front has the crew of the Marlin My Darlin itching to be out there right now in hopes of today being the kind of day where they just don’t make enough live baits for all the fish coming through. It could be another day away or the next cold front that starts the push as these fish move south for breeding this year. But whatever day it starts? We want to be part of it and out there with our baits in the water. J
While Sails are the most sought after target, other species will also be arriving and soon. We’ve already had some tremendous Mahi-mahi fishing in late November and its still happening. Average size on these fish is probably 5-6 lbs. with some larger fish being seen. Our daily reports have the catches of some of our guests along with pictures.
We’re also expecting the return of some decent Kingfish fishing. The reef has been slow for about 2 months now and Kingfish should be returning anytime soon. A few Bonito and Barracuda will be mixed in as well.
With the wind north coming through with each passing cold front fishing in the deep for Swordfish will be a wait and see type thing. Seas out in the Gulf Stream this time of year can reach large proportions and presenting a bait properly can be tough in big seas and windy conditions. But if a break in the weather allows it, it can be very rewarding. Many big Swords are caught in the winter here.
That’s all for now, our daily reports will keep you up to date on what charter fishing off Fort Lauderdale is doing each day through the month. J
