The fishing is going to be AWESOME! Have you seen the Gulf Stream? It has moved over the edge of the 30 fathom break with a wall of warm water, making what appears to be a 4-6 degree temperature edge. I had reports that this edge was loaded with Wahoo and Dolphin, and tomorrow I'm going to see for myself. The tournament is prime for awesome catches as all three species; Tuna, Dolphin and Wahoo are available. There have even been a few Yellowfin Tuna being caught.
The weather forecast is of course perfect right up until the first day of the tournament, but Saturday and Sunday look fishable and right now, early in the week looks beautiful. Regardless if you like the forecast or not, you can enter all the way up until next Friday, so watch the weather, enter and go fishing. So long as you declare your fishing day before 8am the day you are fishing and return back to the OIFC docks before 8pm that day, you are good.
** Also, there is an annual award for most billfish releases- its called the Don Leonard Memorial Billfish Award- in memory of a great friend, fisherman and past Shoot Out winner- Don Leonard
the GPS Store is hosting a big sale all week of the tournament on anything and everything electronics. If you visit their store in Ocean Isle and mention the Far Out Shoot Out, they will give you a special discount. Also visit them on-line at

FISHING REPORT
The waters are coming to life in a hurry. Reports from the Stream indicate awesome fishing for Tuna, Dolphin and Wahoo. From 110 to 180 feet the Grouper have been biting good, particularly well in the deeper water on the vertical jigs. The big surprise is that this morning the King Mackerel showed up and started biting good at the 390/390. It seems early for that, but the waters are near 70 degrees now and I know there's plenty of bait, and thus the Kings are there; I saw them with my own eyes. Along the beachfront the Spanish and Blues are moving in heavy. Talk about a big change from just a week ago. Tis' the season; May is here and its time to go fishing!
JOLLY MON KING CLASSIC on the horizon
The Jolly Mon is set to go off again this year, June 18-20 at the Ocean Isle Fishing Center. Plans are well under way to bring you the biggest and best Jolly Mon ever. I am currently putting the tournament program together; I am offering an advertising deal that includes an entry into the tournament. If you are planning on fishing and have a business that may derive benefit from the exposure, it makes sense to join the Jolly Mon program- If you are interested EMAIL me before 5/10 - This year's Jolly Mon will include all the great family entertainment and prizes as in year's past. I will be mailing postcards on the event next week and programs will be out by the end of the month. Mark your calendar- the Jolly Mon is coming!

Capt. Brant's Fishing School
The May 9-10 Gulf Stream class is full, but I have opened another the following Sunday PM with Monday fishing (May 16-17). CLICK HERE for class details- fishing will certainly be very good. The other component I'm adding to this class is vertical jiggging, as it has become an important part of our Stream fishing trips.
Also, I have open Kingfish schools in early July.
