Absecon Bay / Inlet

The Absecon Bay, Absecon Inlet area adjoining Atlantic City, New Jersey offers world class salt water fishing within site of the world famous Atlantic City Casino Skyline. The best access for a trailer boater is from the Absecon Municipal boat ramp which is located on Faunce Landing Road, Absecon, NJ. 08201.

This area offers protected fishing for all seasonal fish including Summer Flounder, Bluefish and Weakfish. Starting In October there is absolutely fantastic Back Bay Striped Bass Fishing available. This will continue until Mid-December if not until the New Year.

Very little, Sea Cabbage on the flats during summer

Holes and cuts along the Inter Costal Waterway are the most common structures fished. Many other smaller hot spots are available with local knowledge and a good chart. Absecon Inlet offers some good rip areas that hold stripers, usually lots of boats fishing them but usually lots of action. There are numerous bridges, jetties and fishing piers in the area and the entire beach front of Atlantic City and the adjoining communities offer great surf fishing.

For fall Striped Bass action, the very best is livelining good sized baits. Spot are probably #1, but Live Bunker, Mullets, or anything else that is legal and fits inside a Stripers mouth is fair game. Eels are the classic live baits but I find that they are a night time game until November when the water cools and then are very effective. For a more relaxed approach anchoring with fresh surf clams is probably the very best way to get a striper to your boat. The edge of any sandbar where the water drops down deeper than 10 feet will be a hunting spot foe the voracious stripers and you will hook up.
