Description:
Charleston is located near the middle of South Carolina's coast at the point "where the Ashley and Cooper Rivers meet to form the Atlantic Ocean."
Charleston offers such good fishing from April right on through November. In April, May and June we catch mostly tuna, dolphin, wahoo, sailfish, and marlin. As the summer heats up in July and August we still catch tuna, dolphin, and wahoo, but sailfish and king mackerel are more plentiful. From September through November, the fish return as the waters cool. All of the above fish can be caught, but wahoo, tuna, and sailfish are most plentiful.

Troll for Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Dolphin, Tuna, Wahoo, King Mackerel, Amberjack, Barracuda and Bonito.

Fishing continues to be strong this summer and anglers can expect more of the same in August. It will be important to get out early to beat the heat. Not only will it be more comfortable to be fishing in the morning but also the high temperatures in the afternoon can put the fish down. Staring down 20 mph winds with gusts over 30, we left the dock midday to fish the falling tide. After a choppy inlet crossing, we fished back in the creeks managing an eight pounder on cracked blue crab. Had a killer day on sunday April 3rd, with a 2/3 day bottom trip off the coast of Charleston, SC. Landed some monster Black Sea Bass, Large Red Porgies, Vermillion Snappers, Sharks, and Octopuss. We had an opportunity of seeing a couple of wright whale spouts on the ride out to the fishing grounds. Beautiful day with light winds and fairs seas.

I have seen some Tarpon in the area, but have not had many chances to fish for them. Shark fishing is great, and Reds are crushing small mullet. Did really well with spanish mackerel the last 2 days.

June 11th- Went out 20-30 miles to do some bottom bumping for a few hours. Had a slow start picking at some small black sea bass and grunts. Finally found some nice bottom with bait stack all over, put some large red porgies, vermillion, black seabass, blue margarets, and a few sharks(released but still fun to catch) on the boat. Didn't get into any grouper today but had more fish in the box than we could handle.

For the most part, fishing has been a blast throughout Jan-Feb with some great catches of Redfish. Some days the fish have been pretty sluggish and lethargic, and other days the wind has made sight fishing difficult. One day we actually had some sort of small microburst come though the marsh and spook all the reds, it almost looked like a big school of baitfish moving over the water.
