Big Alkali Lake
Big Alkali is located 16 miles South of Valentine on Hwy 83 and 4 miles West on 16B.
There is an 842 surface acre natural sand hill lake that is excellent for vacationing and water skiing. Big Alkali is not a refuge lake and does not have a outboard motor restriction on it. The Alkali Fish Camp is at the entrance to the lake and has cabins for rent, gas, groceries supplies and a bait and tackle store. This camp is located close to all the refuge lakes and keeps updated on the fishing. In 2001 the boat ramp facilities were improved.

Current management activities and regulations are fairly restrictive--minimum length limit of 15 inches on largemouth bass, all pike larger than 28 inches must be released.
We found the fish not particular to any special bait. Bass and Northern Pike were taken on spoons, Cranks Baits. Large Bluegill were taken on small jigs, spinners, and nightcrawlers. The
