Black Butte Lake
Black Butte Lake rests in the rolling hills 8 miles west of Orland, California at an elevation of 470 feet. Black Butte has 40 miles of shoreline and contains 4,460 acres of water. There are several well maintained camping facilities situated around the lake operated by the US Army Corps. There is a full service marina with boat rentals available. Water-skiing, jet-skiing, and swimming is allowed. Black Butte is famous for the excellent spring crappie fishing and abundance of bass, catfish, and bluegill. Hunting is permitted in designated areas with restrictions. From Orland, follow Newville Road west 8 miles to Black Butte Lake.
