Dugger Unit Lake
Greene-Sullivan is supposedly the home of the state record bluegill. This is very possible. There are over a hundred lakes (strip pits) in the forest. Most of the larger pits have launching ramps though primitive or in bad condition. Some are accesible only by foot.
Neighboring G.S.S.F. are other fish and wildlife areas.Minnehaha and Hilenbrand areas are both within a few minutes drive. Bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish have been stocked in most of the lakes.Bass Lake,in the nearby Dugger Unit of Minnehaha, has also been stocked with Tiger Muskie.Airline Pit in G.S.S.F. has trout. A small boat or canoe are best for these lakes because most of the pits are rather small and narrow. All the pits are 12 volt trolling motor only. Primitive camping (no electricity) is also available. There are two camp grounds. They have water and pit toilets.Very fragrant in the summer.
