Another Meat Haul 3-26-2012

More of the same Down In Dularge as the great bite continues daily. On board today I had Steve Jacob, Ed Hall, Joe Jacob, and Wayne Staton from Tennesse. The guys came for one thing, they wanted a meat haul. Mission accomplished as we stuffed the box as usual!! GET U SOME!! LOL. We busted up the trout ealrly with the fast and furious bite. Once things slowed we checked a few reefs picking up trout at every stop. The guys wanted to hook into a few reds...no problem. We drifted two banks real...

PIGS Are Biting!!! 3-23-12

Capt Joel Wakeland and I made a quick afternoon scouting trip to find emerald green water all across lower Dularge. It didn't take long to start slinging in trout, reds, and flounder as the fish were feeding like it was their last meal!!! Nice sized trout today up to 22 inch's long. Avocado Matrix Shad, East Beast TTF Killer Flats Minnows, and glow/chart Cocodrie Cocahoes did all the damage. The fish wanted the baits slow just drifting in the current with an occasional twitch, in 3-...

3-17-2012 PIG Slamming on the DU

Had three boats out today with Dr Randy Davis's group. Dr Randy, Kathy & Tyler Davis, Dana Wooley, and Lance Walker fished with me. Our first stop only produced a handful of fish. Second stop we had a few trout and reds hit the ice. Our third and final stop is where we hit the jackpot. My crew had the pigs and doormats coming in the boat from every direction. 16-20 inch Trout as we did not have to measure a single fish. Avocado Matrix Shad was #1 again today as the trout ate them up...

Bustin the Reds Down Dularge 3-10-2012

Big fun Down Dularge today with John Doucet's group. On-board the big Bluewave I had Clay Fasnacht, Howard Staton, Richard Doucet, and Brad 'Hot Rod' Rogers. It was great having the guys back On-board. Dirty water all over Dularge today as the North wind dirtied up the only clean water we had. No problem as there is always somewhere in Dularge to find fish. We put plan B into action quickly and filled up the box with big brute reds up to 28 inch's. The guys had a total blast...

Dularge Trout 3-9-2012

Day 2 with Don and Glenn Nauck had us slinging in 15-18 inch trout at day break. We knew we had a window before the front got here to get our fish and we took advantage of it. Don got off to a hot start slinging in four in a row as soon as I killed the engine!! We got on a steady bite of all nice fish, big schools of mullet all around us. Once the bite tapered out we went check a couple other reefs picking a few up here and there. We called it a day when the sky started to turn black with t...

Dularge Trout & Reds 3-8-2012

Don and Glenn Nauck joined me Down in Dularge for some trout and reds. It was a rather challenging day in the 25-30 mph winds but we still were able to put a good mess of nice fat trout together with a few reds mixed in. We found cean water at three different locations, while only two of those spots had trout. We did manage however to find some trout in dirtier water willing to bite. Shrimp Creole, and Avocado Matrix Shad and Texas Tackle Factory Killer Flats Minnows have been putting a maj...

Dularge Trout 3-2-2012

Chris Powell and Paul Cummins joined me aboard the big Bluewave today, in search of the famous yellow-mouths as usual. Our first stop had the fish coming in steady, but mostly small fish. we made a few moves pecking away at some keepers then decided to make a move. Second stop found some nicer trout up to 3 pounds and a couple reds. When the bite tapered out we were on the move again. The wind changed direction today and stained the water where the fish have been piled up slowing the bite d...

Trout Catching Continues 2-28-12

Another good day busting up the trout Down In Dularge. Capt Chris Venable and I jumped on board with Capt Joel Wakeland this morning. Once we had enough light to see through the fog, we were headed South. The trout were waiting on us at our first stop. Double and triple hook ups as the trout were hungry. Texas Tackle Factory Killer Flats Minnows in Chicken On a Chain, avocado Matrix Shad, and the Shrimp Creole Matrix Shad wore the trout out. Slow steady retrieve as usual is what they wanted...

Post Front, February Smackdown 2-25-12

]   Who says you can't catch trout the day after a front or in February? LOL. Dularge was on fire today as we busted up some nice 14-19 inch trout. Jonas & Aaron Golden joined me once again for another great trip to add to the books. The fish were hungry and feeding aggresively, as they were hitting the baits extremely hard. Avocado Matrix Shad and Texas Tackle Factory Killer Flats Minnows in Chicken On a Chain wore the trout out with blueback and LSU colored...

Dularge Trout Fishing 2-17-2012

I had two boats running today with my good customers from Sewart Supply, INC. On my boat I had Al Adams, John Batten, Dean Fowler, and Jason Bemis. Most of the guys were in town from Wisconsin. We had a limited of time this morning as the guys had to be back for 10:00 to get to the airport. We set the bar high on Wednesday and thought for sure we would have a repeat performance today. Well, its called fishing and not catching for a reason!!! It was a slow bite at every stop...

Fast and Furious Trout Bite 2-15-12

Capt Chris Venable jumped on board the big Bluewave with me this morning for a quick scouting trout slam. We got a late start but still had the yellow mouths flying over the gunnel's every-cast at our first stop.  We left them biting when it slowed down with 31 iced down.  Second stop had the same results as we finished our 50 fish limit and left them biting once it slowed down.  We checked five other locations and caught fish at every stop.  Good as it gets as the f...

Friday Dularge Trout Slam 2-10-12

Stuart Simoneaud, Will Caufman, and David McCrory from Lafayette fished with me today. We knew we had a window of opportunity to put the hurt on the fish before the weather got to us, and we did just that. Our first couple spots had 31 fish on ice but nothing fast and furious. I decided it was time to go and check one of my old honey holes...and boy did it pay off!!! We started slinging in the yellow mouths one after another. We were right up to 60 trout when the sky fell in on us. We decid...

Trout and Redfish Smackdown 2-7-12

Today I jumped on board with Capt Rodney 'TroutHog' Bourque and John 'Pieo' Falgout. All it took was two stops to fill the ice-chest to the top with trout and reds. We caught over 30 reds (keeping our 15) and 60 trout (left them biting). Blueback swimbaits and Lemon Head Matrix Shad did the damage on the trout early this morning. As the day warmed up the avocado Matrix Shad put a hurt on the specks. The redfish also crushed the avocado and shrimp creole Matrix Shad. Tex...

Fat Trout In Dularge 2-6-2012

I jumped on board the Catchdat one today with Terry and Robin around 11:00. All it took was one stop for us to load the box with some nice fat Dularge specks up to 20 inch's long. No limits but 40 nice specks, 3 reds, and 1 flounder in just a few hours of fishing. Fun times with lots of laughs and some trash talking. Swimbaits is what the fish wanted. Blue and Chartreuse colors were the ticket with a slow steady retrieve. Thanks guys. Looking forward to busting them again tomorrow....
