Escambia Bay Fishing Report 11.04.14

Nov 4th, 2014 - Fishing Report  -Pensacola, Florida   November is finally here and the big reds have shown up in large numbers and they seem larger than ever. We’ve already caught a few fish over 40” and one at 44”.  We had two major cold fronts last weekend, which really fired them off. This past week the bite was awesome! Each day we averaged at least 10-15 fish per person in a 4-5 hr trip, so there were a lot of sore arms. I...

Escambia Bay Fishing Report 05.06.13

This season seems to be flying by; the awesome monster red fishing of November and December has come and gone, Sheepshead season is over, and all of a sudden we are already into the month of May. They say time flies when you’re having fun, and it really zooms by when you’re catching fish! April was a very good month for trout and reds on the flats. There were tons of good trout and some of them were well over 20”. I’ll be staying on the flats all of May...

Escambia Bay Fishing Report 01.26.13

Hello fellow anglers! 2012 has come and gone, and I'm looking forward to what's new on the horizon for the year ahead. It's going to be a great year; I can feel it! It seems like spring is pretty far off, but really it's just around the corner. That's the nice thing about living in Florida; winter doesn't hang around long. See this link to check out what we catch in March during Spring Break. &nbs...

Escambia Bay Fishing Report 01.17.13

Pensacola Fishing Report Jan 1 –15th -  Mega-Bite Inshore Charters The New Year has so far been pretty good for trout and redfish. I’ve been mostly fishing the upper bay areas of Escambia and Blackwater Bay, and also in a few of the local bayous. In January and February the bayous are great places to catch nice sized trout. The trout have been staged in various depths depending where you go to fish. In the rivers, I’m finding the fish in depths of 12 –20...

Escambia Bay Fishing Report 12.07.12

Walking on the backs of Redfish. There are so many redfish in Pensacola Bay right now that you could practically walk across their backs from one end of the bay to the other. Every year starting around late October, thousands of redfish migrate into our bays to feed and spawn, and this year I think the number has doubled. I’ve yet to have a trip where we didn’t catch double-digit numbers!  Not only are the numbers even greater, it seems like the fish are on steroids, be...

Escambia Bay Fishing Report 10.01.12

Monster drum and light tackle trout - Brought to you by -SALTWATER FISHING ACADEMY!   This weekend’s trips were fished on a neap tide. I’m not too fond of fishing a neap tide, but you go when your clients can go and you make the best of what Mother Nature gives you. The weather on Friday was perfect with calm waters, and Saturday was a little windier but we managed to hide and catch some quality fish.   I fished farther north up the bay to get some...

Escambia Bay Fishing Report 09.18.12

We’re two weeks into September and I’m excited about the cooler weather headed our way. What a difference a month makes. Last month the mornings were a bit humid and hot and I was breaking a sweat some days even at 5:30 am, but this week the mornings are going to be in the middle 50’s. This Sunday was similar weather, cooler with calm winds, but it was a neap tide. I knew it was going to be a slower bite as it usually is on a neap-tide, but I had the day off and so did the...

Escambia Bay Fishing Report 09.06.12

The remnants of Isaac have caused some more wind and rain in our area again for a few days. I’ll take this small reprieve to get my tackle in order for my upcoming trips. I have a couple of days when I detail the boat, check all my equipment, and basically get geared up for my favorite time of the year to fish. As summer slowly slips away and fall arrives, I anxiously anticipate the annual fall redfish run that starts up in mid October and lasts pretty much all winter.  Not only...

Escambia Bay Fishing Report 10.19.11

Fall fishing has finally arrived, and I for one, am thrilled to say the least! Over the past two weeks, I’ve been running trips in the afternoon and evening depending on the tides, and the bite has been phenomenal!     As the water cools over the next month, the specks will migrate up towards the upper bays and mouths of the rivers. Some have already made their migration, and over the past few trips, I’ve hooked up some quality fish up in Escambia Bay and Blackwater.  ...
