The Redfish and Speckled Trout fishing around the Venice Louisiana area has been consistant. We have been catching some quality Specks at the shallow water petroleum platforms ( 5 to 25 foot depths ). We have caught the Specks on lead heads with large soft plastics. We have not been catching limits of trout, but they have been anywhere from 3-6 pounds. Some times we can not fish the platforms because the wind and seas are too strong to do so. Also, I can not take inexperienced angl...

FISH ON GUIDE SERVICE Report April 17, 2012
The wind has made the fishing around the Venice, Louisiana area difficult some days, but we have been catching the Redfish and Speckled Trout consistently even with the wind. I am excited that the Speckled Trout have been showing up in numbers down river. The warmer weather has seemed to turn on the Specks early this year. Also, the Mississippi River is falling and should be around the 5 ft. at the New Orleans river stage by next week. That is good because there will be less fresh wat...
April 2, 2012 report.
The Venice, Louisiana Redfish fishing continues to be good, and the Speckled Trout have been picking up as well. We have been fishing in areas that have been protected from the wind, so we have fished in several locations around Venice that have been holding Redfish. The fact we don't fish the same place more than one day before we fish another area says a lot about the number of fish we have in our fishery. We have been using the reliable popping cork for the most part, but we also got...

February 17th 2012
I fished thursday and Friday and thanks to weather no one wanted to go on Saturday. Thursday brought a group from Houston and had some steady action all day. Unfortunately no big tuna. We did however catch the biggest king mackerels I ever seen. Reel screamers. A real scary line of lighting ran us off early. It hurt to leave when I knew it was about to get good. Friday took four from florida. Our trip was eventful all day. Wahoo were hungry as we made our first pass. Doubled up and couldn...

Fishing for Tiger Sharks
Tiger Sharks prowl both the in-shore and open waters of the Gulf of Mexico and are tireless feeders that can attack anything, everything, anytime, anywhere. They are tenacious, acrobatic, and terribly strong when hooked providing even seasoned big-game fishermen a test of skill.
The Tiger Sharks' eating habits make it a good bet for a ‘trophy catch’, but its aggressive tendencies in shallow water proves it is a predator that poses danger to humans.
As fishermen cat...
Fishing Tips From Beach to Surf to Offshore
These fish can be caught using bottom rigs, but it's much more fun to target them with lures and light tackle. One of my favorite things to do in off season is to walk the beach carrying a bass rod and a few lures to target roving schools of Bluefish. When you find a school, the action can be hot and heavy. Nothing in freshwater can compare to the carnage a school of these toothy critters are capable of.
A host of other species can be caught from the surf such as Striped Bass, Red D...
catching redfish in Venice Louisiana
Venice, LA Fishing Report. November 27, 2011
November has been a great month for Redfish and Speckled Trout fishing in the Venice Louisiana area. The Mississippi River has been low and slow, and the Speckled Trout have been easy to catch in the clear water in the big river for the last month. The slot size Redfish continue to be in the river system, as well as the Flounder. The large “bulls” Redfish have been very reliable in the outside bays and beaches around th...
Sunday's Tuna Were Large & In Charge!
Saturday night I spent most of the night swapping from 30TW's to 50 and 80 wides. I sharpened all the saws and went to bed dreaming about the morning to come. I knew if we only saw ½ what we had seen the day before it was going to be awesome.
We departed Venice Marina and I slammed the Yammies all the way, she roared up to 5700rpm and we were cruising down the pass with a light glow of morning sun at 58mph. as we broke out into the gulf it was slick calm, I never stood up or...

Sea Conditions That Impact Your Deep Sea Fishing Catches!
Wind & Swell
Wind plays a large role in fishing success as light winds push bait to the far shore, and of course game fish follow while strong winds pull surface water along with it as it blows across the ocean surface. The 'hole' left behind is then filled in with an 'upswell' by cold, nutrient rich water from below.
On the Current Conditions Map, click on the Buoys for wind direction, wave height and other weather related information impacting upswells such...
Venice, Louisiana Fishing Report October 25th, 2011.
We have been catching a lot of fish over the last month, and I have been busy, so I have not had a chance to give a report about all the great fishing we have had in the Venice, Louisiana area. The Redfish bite has been incredible. We are catching the Redfish in the outer bays around the river, and in the Mississippi river itself. Most of the big giant Redfish are on the outside bays and beaches. The river is mostly holding Redfish under 30 inches with the occasional big boy. The rocks and...
Reeling In the Trophy Fish!
Ah! The open sea never ceases to amaze me... the wind gusts, the waves, the spray of salt water over the bow... AND its FALL! Prime time for action packed deep sea fishing!
Your adrenalin will start pumping every time your line gets wet with the anticipation of that monstrous tug at the end of your tackle... knowing that your big catch will take more than a few people to carry off the boat... and then, youll get to show off the pictures!

Venice Fishing report October 3rd, 2011
We have been fishing most often in the main channel of the Mississippi River the past month. The river has been clear and turning green as the river stage has dropped. The action on Redfish has been terrific. The Reds have been hanging close to the rocks on the sides of the river from the mouth all the way north to Venice and beyond. I have been drifting the rocks in different areas using my trolling motor to keep the boat positioned so we can cast to the rocks. Due to the ship traffic, I have...

Venice Louisiana Fishing Report
July 20, 2011
The Venice Louisiana Redfish action is at its peak right now, if there is a peak. The Bullreds are out in force. I enjoy catching Speckled Trout as well, but I try to concentrate on them in the Spring and Fall, because its easier at that time, and I prefer not to use live bait. We have caught some nice Specks lately, while targeting big Redfish. Big ones, but not many. I cant thin...

Red Fishing in Venice report July 6 2011
With the heat of Summer comes the best bull Redfish action of the year.
Although we catch these large Redfish every month of the year, July, August, and September seem to be the best action for these hard fighting brutes. Schools of these 20 to 50 pound fish can be seen off the beaches and bays around the Venice area. We are targeting these fish with artificial lures such as soft plastics under a cork, gold spinners, rattletraps, and top water lures. When they strike your cork yo...
June 7th Report
The Redfish and Speckled Trout fishing around Venice, Louisiana has picked up this last week has picked up due to the low winds. Low winds allow us to fish where we want to, and allows the tides to bring in clear water, instead of churning up and mixing the fresh and salt water. We have been catching the Specks and Reds on the same soft plastics under a popping cork, and a gold blade spinner for brutal Redfish strikes. With the wind conditions improving, there has not been any need for live...

Wahoo and Offshore Fishing
We headed out of Grand Isle yesterday morning. The seas were a little rough but we managed to make it out to the tuna grounds. We tried chuming for a while, no surface action, marked fish really deep. I decided to head up North for some wahoo fishing. We ended up going 4 for 5 with 1 wahoo weighing close to 80 lbs. We also mangaed to pick up a few blackfin tuna, then stopped at another rig, caught a few amberjack. We tried for grouper, but only caught snapper. After releasing the snapper, the...
March 2011 Offshore Charter Fishing Update
March 31st, 2011 Venice fishing is the absolute best Ive ever seen for this time of the year. Why? I dont know
Yellowfin Tuna action has been consistent, Wahoo fishing picked up, Mako sharks were caught and the Blackfin Tuna are on steroids.
Im telling you Venice Louisiana Offshore Fishing is *ON* like Ive never seen.

Yellowfin and a Pink Elephant
Venice Offshore Yellowfin Tuna fishing continues to be world class. Not only does the size of these Yellow Fin Tuna make me say world class, but the distance to these fish is less than 30 miles from Venice Marina. Combined with the very cool visual way we target these fish makes the experience a lasting impression.
OK, so to sum up Saturday and Sunday in this report, lets get started shall we? Both days the charter was made up of Walk-on customers, I was able to put together e...
Venice - Wahoo and Tuna
Venice Louisiana Wahoo have shown up and there are signs that the Jumbo Yellow Fin Tuna might be lurking around.
Hard core winter Wahoo fishing in Louisiana is heating up. There have been some good Wahoo catches and it appears the catches are getting more common and wide spread. Venice Wahoo seem to be predominantly on the East side of the river. I have not heard of many people fishing to the South or to the West. Baits of choice have been Bomber CD 30's in the color of Pin...
March 2nd 2011
The redfishing in Venice continues to be very productive. This last week we caught over 70 redfish out of my bayboat, with one day over a 100. most of the fish were caught with a plastic under a popping cork in murky river water with a layer of saltwater underneath the fresh water. We also used gold spinners, which the redfish attacked relentlessly. With the warmer temperatures last week, the Speckled Trout bite turned on as well. The Speck bite should do nothing but improve during the mont...

February 10th 2011
The Redfish action has been terrific the last few weeks in Venice between the strong cold fronts. The day of the fronts brings heavy winds, which makes it difficult, but the days between the fronts make up for the tough days. When I have taken clients out the last few weeks we have caught 50+ redfish, and several times caught over a hundred+. That is with three of us in the boat. The speckled trout have been slow due to the cold water temperatures, however in March the Trout usually turn on...
Venice Winter Tuna and Wahoo
It has been a while since my last post about fishing! 2011 is right around the corner and we are fired up and ready to get back on the water!
Over the last six months or so we have worked to help clean up our gulf. We met many great people during that time! I was able to make friends with several members of the US Coast Guard and let me be the first to say You Guys Rock! (AND GALS) The Coast Guard personnel were awesome and I would like to thank you for y...
