ScotlandRiver Tummel
Details
ScotlandThe River Tummel runs a picturesque 58-mile course from Loch Rannoch to the River Tay in Perthshire, passing through Pitlochry. The upper reaches of the river are the final destination for the salmon that work their way upstream from their Atlantic breeding grounds, which includes navigating the salmon ladder at Pitlochry Dam.
The River Tummel is a large river, noted for its spring salmon and also with runs of summer salmon and grilse.
April through to June is the best time for springers and grilse numbers are highest in July and August.
