Bass fishing has slowed since the great Spring bite on Santee Cooper lakes (marion and moultrie). Fish are now scattering out from post-spawn areas to summer spots. Santee Cooper Fishing Report - 20 Apr
Largemouth Bass: Fair/Poor. Captain Chris Heinning (803-236-1257) reports that bass bite has slowed due to post-spawn conditions. Some fish remain biting in shallow water, near deep water channels. You may go a long time between bites, so keep focused! Bass can be caught around cypress trees and grass. Some eel grass is starting to push up and visible. Bass are mainly being caught on brown or white stick or trick worms in 5 feet or less, and an occasional fish on a chartreuse/white spinnerb...
Santee Cooper Fishing Report - 17 Mar
Largemouth bass fishing has been superb at Santee Cooper lakes with plenty of fish in the 6-8 pound range being taken often. On a guide trip yesterday, a young man got his personal best of 8lbs 5oz. Most fish are in the shallows with water temps in 60-70 temp range. Most fish being caught on soft platics on docks, cypress trees, and grass.

17 Feb Santee Cooper Report
Cold snap and series of cold fronts in SC lowered the water temps back down to 55 degrees. Bass are just starting to transition into backwater areas. Follow the transition areas like cypress trees, points, and ditches into shallow cover. Plastics working the best and some on squarebill crankbaits. Santee Is Coming Back To Life!!
First an up date to the fall fishing.From Sept to Dec 1st we boated & released very near 1500 bass,with many days of 50+ bass & I also tied my best day with a guide party with 85 bass.These fish are not dinks(some were) but most were not,with many fish between 12 1/2" to 14 "s.With the numbers that we caught & there average size during the fall,there should be a huge class of 2+ lb fish this spring & the winter fishing is proving this could be true.

Fish are doing well in water less than 20 foot on humps.
Feeding on mussels and shade.
You can anchor and wight them out or drift fish.
