Spot Description:
This special 24 mile river section below Sumner Falls has a diverse character from rapid to run with long flats and pools. The scenery is wonderful with rolling hills and huge coniferous and deciduous trees providing shade and protection from erosion. The wildlife is numerous and includes bald eagles, great blue herrons, green herrons, turkey vultures, osprey, numerous hawks including red tail, varieties of ducks and geese along with song birds throughout providing an orchestra of pleasant melodies. There are also beaver, mink, muskrat, otter, weasel, fox, turtles, etc. The fishing possibilities are for walleye, northern pike, large holdover and wild trout and of course the star of the show - smallmouth bass. The Smallmouth are hard hitting, high jumping and tenacious fighting. These arial battlers are deceived by both fly fishing and light spinning enthusiasts. One of the prettiest sections on the Connecticut River, abundant wildlife, and very good fishing makes this beautiful section of river a must to experience. Its hard to ask of more from any river. (Compliments of River Excitement Guide Service- offering courteous and professional McKenzie Drift Boat Float Trips for 25 years with all quality equipment included).
