Each December we see some major changes to our local fishery. Around the middle of the month, we typically see our first major cold front come rolling through. We have already seen a few minor cold fronts come through in November which brought the night temperatures down into the low 50’s. The fronts also brought some days where the wind hit 20+ mph. Expect Gulf water temperatures to drop down into the mid 60’s this month.

Everglades National Park/10,000 Islands Fishing Report 08.13.12
August and September are typically the warmest months of the summer here in the Everglades National Park. Day time air temperatures are averaging around 92. Water temps are hovering between 86-88. Typical to our summer months, it is now heating up so much by mid day, that the bite is dropping off by early afternoon. We have been getting a lot of mid afternoon storms which cool things off a little, and produce a late afternoon/ early evening bite.

February is here and it is typically a month where we normally will see some slight changes from January's cold fronts and wind. Some of the cold fronts will still hit us, but are usually not quite as powerful. Water temperatures are higher than normal and will most likely continue to hover in the high 60's.

It seemed as though summer would last forever. With all of that tropical storm activity that has been going on out there, it?s nice to see the change of seasons. October is here and what a great month it is to fish the Everglades National Park! Our day time air temperatures are now averaging around 87 degrees, as water temps hover around 81 degrees.
