Description:
"At Double D Outfitters my goal is to give our customers the best possible fishing experience on the Cumberland River.
For the experienced angler, that means putting them on the fish. For the inexperienced angler, that means not only putting them on the fish, but also making sure that they have quality instruction on the best methods of catching trout in the river!
Customer satisfaction is priority one!" - Dave DeBold, Owner
Double D Outfitters is a full service Kentucky Fly Fishing Guide and Cumberland Lake Fishing Guide company. The only thing that you need to bring is your enthusiasm for Kentucky Fishing, Kentucky Fly Fishing and Kentucky Trout Fishing!

A Day on the River
Begins around sunrise and will
last until late afternoon. Most trips
depart from Helm’s Landing, about
four miles downstream from Wolf
Creek Dam. You will be fishing out
of an Express aluminum boat and
possibly enjoy some wading if water
conditions are low enough.
Many sportswriters have stated
that this tailwater fishery is one of the
best trout destinations east of the
Mississippi River.
The river is fishable nearly all year
long, but it is best to book a trip from
late spring through the fall due to more
stable flows.
For a small additional cost Dave
can provide a shuttle service from the
Louisville area to the river.
Whether you live in the area or are a visitor wanting
to get out on the river give
Double D Outfitters a call.

Experience:
Dave grew up west of St. Louis Missouri fishing ponds and streams since about the time that he could walk. After high school he earned an academic/athletic scholarship from the University of Louisville where he played football for the legendary coach Howard Schnellenberger. He earned a bachelors degree in history and later earned a masters in teaching. He has been teaching social studies at the high school level since 1996.
He started fishing the Cumberland River in the early nineties. “It took me a while to figure out how to fish this river. I can remember driving all the way from Louisville to find the river out of its banks. Few people fly fished the river and there wasn’t a whole lot of information out there about hatches and productive patterns.” He started taking out some of his buddies who in turn suggested that he should start guiding. “I didn’t think much of it at the time, but it began to sink in that this could be a great summer job.”
“My goal is to give clients a memorable top notch trip on the Cumberland that is affordable. I am not one who pushes trips during high water or inclement weather. If the weather is bad or the river is too high then we simply don’t go and reschedule another day. I want my folks to enjoy themselves and there is no better way of doing that than by hooking into some quality Cumberland River trout.”
