Mass Bay Guides was started in 1999 by Captain Greg Sears, a Massachusetts fisherman who has worked his way up from a stern man on a lobster boat, to a USCG boatswains mate, and is now a licensed 100 Ton USCG Captain of his own charter boat. Greg started Mass Bay Guides as a way to give beginner to expert fisherman advice on hiring professional Captains and Mates or Charter Boats.

Greg Sears:
A 100 ton USCG licensed captain with a Lifetime worth of experience fishing throughout Massachusetts and the world. Captain Greg is the founder of Mass Bay Guides and the captain of the Fortuna. He has worked on many of the top charter boats in New England. Greg is also a former US Coast Guard Boatswains mate and is a qualified Emergency healthcare Provider. He is a certified Padi Open Water Diver and a former American Red Cross water rescue and safety instructor. Greg has operated many size vessels from sail boats to 300ft coast guard cutters. Capt. Greg also is an accomplished heavy equipment operator and a former single engine airplane pilot. He loves his job as a charter captain and takes pride in running one of the top fishing charter companies in the world. Greg is living his dream of taking people out to experience the beauty and excitement of the ocean.

Don Campbell:
A 100ton USCG licensed and has more than 30 years fishing in Massachusetts Bay and the shoals of Cape Cod. Captain "Soup" runs the Labrador and is known for his ability to get the fish to the boat. Don has been a commercial tuna fisherman for the last twenty years and is now running a top notch boat in our fleet. The Labrador is Capt. Don's pride and joy a 32 foot BHM out of Scituate Harbor. Captain Soup enjoys bringing people into a world that he loves.

Ed Newell:
A 100ton USCG licensed captain and has fished on almost every top charter boat in Mass bay. Ed has fished on Stellwagen bank and the shoals of cape cod for the last 20 years. He has also worked as a mate or captain for some of the best fishermen in this part of the world. A true professional Ed loves his job and will surely teach you a few things before the day is over.

Taylor Sears:
Professional Mate for the last eight years. Taylor is a prodigy of fishing starting his own tackle company at 15 years old, Taylor has created some of the best tuna fishing tackle sold worldwide. His company Squid bars Co. produces fishing tackle for charter fishing and tackle companies all over the united States and the world. Taylor is attending Mass Maritime Academy and is known as one of the best Mates in Massachusetts. Taylor hopes to keep up the family tradition in the charter fishing industry.

Dave Newell:
Captain Dave is the co-owner of the Fortuna. Dave is the Fleet mechanic and has his 100 ton Captains licence. Dave is an accomplished Captain and diesel mechanic and he does meticulous job taking care of the fleet. Dave and his family have been fishing and boating in massachusetts all of their lives. Dave is a certified Padi Diver and spent eight years in the US Navy.

Bryan Sears:
Professional Mate for the last ten years Bryan has completed his 100 ton USCG masters licence and a four year degree at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Bryan has been fishing all of his life and started working in the tackle business at 12 years old he is a master of the knots and an expert in all kinds of tackle and fishing techniques. Bryan's dream is to pursue a successful life in the charter fishing industry.

Cameron Newell Newell:
Cameron is the newest member to the Mass Bay Guides Family. Cam loves to fish and his dream is to be the number one captain in Mass. Cameron is starting early and is attending the Plymouth Marine tech. program. Cam qualified as a first Mate at 13 years old he is now 16 and is fast becoming a great fisherman.

Niki is our only girl mate but don't let that slow her down. Niki is attending Massachusetts Maritime Academy and is majoring in deck and navigation and soon will be the highest ranked captain in the Mass Bay Guides family. She loves to fish and has caught more tuna than most people could ever dream about. She really enjoys helping people catch their first or biggest fish.
