Description:

Born and raised in Naples Florida I've grown up fishing the waters of southwest Florida from Naples to Boca Grande. I have been fishing since I was old enough to hold a rod, and have been "hooked" ever since. In my entire life I don't think I've spent more than three days in a row away from fishing. I knew at an early age that operating a fishing charter and guide service was in the cards for me. After a couple years away playing college baseball I moved back to Naples and started working on boats. I got my captains license in 2003 and shortly after started Capt Chris McCubbin Fishing Charters.

Getting to take people fishing for a living is a dream come true. I take great pleasure in helping other people catch fish, more so than fishing myself. Whether it's fishing inshore for snook and redfish, or offshore for permit and kingfish, I truly love the waters of Naples and I know you will too.

Fishing Reports

Naples Fishing Report

As I write this report it is raining hard and blowing hard out of the east with a low pressure system to our south. Over the last month our weather has been very unstable with hard winds from the east, southeast, and northwest. This has only affected the sight fishing and tarpon fishing as unstable conditions push these fish offshore where its to rough to find them. The weather looks to get back to normal on 5/3 and we can start to put a hurting on the tarpon. The snook fishing has remained...

I'm going to keep it short as I've been so busy the days are a blur. Bryan Doe one of my young anglers as been putting a hurting on the big sharks the last week. We have caught big lemons, bulls and hammerheads. Tarpon are in select spots waiting to be caught. Snook, redfish, big trout and hungry jacks have all been caught this week. If you want to get out let me know as I have a few open spots left. Tight lines...

Naples Fishing Report

I have fished every day this week and the fishing was pretty good. The tides the last few days have been very weak, the snook fishing in the backwaters shut down as a result. The snook fishing around the docks and passes was still decent though. Redfish, trout, snapper and big jacks made up for the slow snook bite in the backwaters. We caught nice keeper redfish to 26" on every trip but today. The trout fishing was also pretty good on the afternoon trips when the tides were a litt...

Naples Fishing Report 2/28/12

Let me start off by saying if you are not live bait fishing in Naples you are missing out. I have seen a lot of people on charters lately that are jigging the channels, catching ladyfish "bait" and the odd pompano, this is not what my charters are about. Your trip starts before you get to the dock, I'm out catching you tons of live bait to ensure you have the best chance of catching snook, redfish, trout, big jacks and tarpon. There are a few other guides out there doing t...

Naples Fishing Report 2/24/12   The past few days the fishing has been on fire in the backwaters of Naples. The warm weather has continued to help drive fish in to Spring like feeding patterns. The last three days we have caught snook over 10lbs with two fish weighing 16lbs and 17lbs on live pilchards. Deeper mangrove shorelines are holding these big snook along with redfish, big trout to 4lbs and some brusier jacks. Each day I am finding more tarpon and I am starting...

Naples Fishing Report 2/21/12   After a busy month of charters I have a day to get reports done and get ready for another busy week. If you are not down in Naples right now or arent going fishing you are missing out on one of the best Winters I can remember. The weather has been amazing with highs in the low 80's and water temps have been in the 70-76 range. This warmer than average weather has kept the live pilchards in the area all Winter and has really helped the f...

Naples Fishing Report 10/12/11

October is a great month to fish in Naples and this year is no different. I've been on the water everyday since Oct 5th and had some really good days. The pilchards are easy to net and are finally in the 3-5in range. We have fished for tarpon, snook, and redfish almost everyday and hooked tarpon on every trip but one. The redfish have been in the slot or over making for a great meal. I really have not fished for snook that much this week with so many redfish around. there are plenty of them ar...

Fall Tarpon & Snook

The fishing is really getting good here in Naples with tarpon, snook and redfish being caught on every trip. The fishing will be some of the best of the year this month as most fish will feed like crazy before heading south or hunkering down before Winter approaches. Here are a few pics from two days ago of a big snook and some tarpon caught on a trip out of Naples. Dont wait to book your trip as October is very busy for me, 239 404 6255  ...

Fall Tarpon, Snook, Redfish Sept 18, 2011     The days are getting shorter and the water temps are finally coming down here in Naples. The mornings and late afternoons have been very enjoyable weather wise as we have a nice northeast wind. The fishing has also gotten much better over the last few weeks in the Naples are. The pilchards are still on the small size, but thats what the fish are eating. Im gonna start with the redfish bite that has been strong with great numbers of...

Naples Fishing Report     Spring is here and the fishing has been excellent the last few weeks. All the major fish have shown up and its hard to choose what to fish for at times. Snook fishing with live pilchards has still been the best bet with great numbers of fish being caught on most charters. Im having my best luck fishing the passes, docks and bays closest to the passes on the incoming and the first few hours of the outgoing. I have not fished much for redfish the last fe...

Naples Tarpon Fishing

The tarpon are here and eating on the right tides. Live mullet have been the bait of choice the last week and the tarpon are between 60-120lbs. I have only fished for them twice this week, but have had fished hooked each time. We did catch one the other day around 20lbs fishing for snook by a dock. Look for it to get better as more fish show up with warming water and weather. Snook fishing as been the go to for numbers, we have had some really good days this week with 30 fish in a four hour tr...

Spring is finally here and the fishing has improved fast in a few short weeks. The water temps are in the 70's and we have switched from shrimp to live pilchards. Snook have been feeding good and they have been the main focus on most of my recent trips. Pompano fishing has been excellent first thing in the morning using tube jigs tipped with shrimp, getting a limit has been pretty easy work with some going close to 3lbs. Redfish are here, but I have not spent much time looking for them with ot...

Monday, January 24, 2011 Reds Snook Trout Naples Fishing

Last week had some warm days and mild nights and the fish responded well to the warm up. I was able to find water temps ranging from 68-73 in some creeks. We were able to catch a handful of snook to 24" and some nice jacks to about 7lbs. These were nice to see as its been a while since my charters have caught snook or jacks during the day. The redfish my clients caught were all in the 15-18in range, by the spring those little guys should be keepers.   Trout were the main focus...

Naples Beaches( Gulf of Mexico) Report The tarpon fishing is still hot right now and should get even better through October as big schools of glass minnows pack into the shallow water off the beaches. Then as cooler weather pushes south and the water temps drop the mullet will pack into the passes making them easy prey for big tarpon, snook, jacks and sharks. This week I have been tarpon fishing the early mornings 545-9am for tarpon. The silver mullet are already showing up and they are ea...

Naples Inshore Fishing Guide Report This week I have fished a few days and it's been up and down depending on what I have fished for. The live bait is still on the beaches, just a little small. Early morning outgoing tides have pushed the bigger bait farther offshore in cleaner water. Tarpon fishing is still good for both big and small. It seems Fall is going to be early this year as huge schools of mackeral and ladyfish are just off the beaches. These are cooler water fish, and tarpon a...

Naples Beaches Report Tarpon and snook are the fish of choice this month. This time of year is nice, little fishing pressure and you can fish at night with great success. I have been focusing on tarpon the last few days. They are here in pretty good numbers and will eat a live thread or DOA Baitbuster. Look for bug pods of bait and most of the tarpon will be mixed in with mackeral and small sharks. It doesnt last long in the morning, by 9am its over unless its overcast. The afternoo...
