Fishing in Chassahowitzka, (pronounced Cheese & Whiskey), is a fisherman's dream in a fishing paradise! The spectacular wilderness beauty and clearest most pristine waterway in the state will make flats fishing for Redfish feel like you've been transplanted into a time gone by. Experience:

Captain "Red ED" Brennan has been living his dream and fishing the waters of the Homosassa and Chassahowitzka Rivers on Florida's Nature Coast since the early 1980's. While living in Orlando, he made many day and weekend trips to fish with the legendary Captain Bill Hope, his mentor, and fell in love with the area and learned to fish these tricky waterways.

Captain "Red ED" has experienced fishing adventures all around the Sunshine State, including St. Augustine, Ponce Inlet, Mosquito Lagoon, Port Canaveral, Sebastian Inlet, Fort Pierce, Stuart, Palm Beach, Haulover Inlet, N. Miami Beach, Islamorada, Marathon, Everglades City, Marco Island, Sanibel, Captiva, Cabbage Key, Boca Grande Pass, Port Charlotte, New Port Richey, Crystal River, Ozello, Yankeetown, Steinhatchee and Cedar Key. Pursuing his passion for fishing and his love to travel, Captain "Red ED" has been lucky enough to catch three "Grand Slams" so far in his career. The first "Slam" was caught in the Sanibel/Captiva area where he caught a Tarpon, Snook, Redfish and Speckled Sea Trout all in the same day! The second "Slam" was caught in 1993 in Venezuela, where he boated a Blue Marlin, White Marlin and four Sailfish all in one day! The third "Slam" was this past January 2009, in Everglades City, where he caught a Redfish, Trout and Snook!

Fishing Reports

Hot Homosassa Fishing!

Hot Homosassa Fishing! Which is hotter, the weather or the fishing? The wind is finally subsiding, some days it’s been as flat calm as a mirror on the Gulf waters and we recently have seen the water temperature rise to 80 degrees. Are these the first signs of summer? Never the less the fishing continues to be HOT! The fish continue to feed aggressively and it’s not uncommon to catch Redfish, Trout, Black Drum, Sharks, Sea Bass, Pompano, Flounder, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel...

Homosassa Fishing - This is No Joke!

This is the time of the year that everyone around Florida's Nature Coast gets excited about, the weather is Chamber of Commerce beautiful; the East winds should finally subside and we are returning to summer time tides. Plus the Gulf water temperature has reached the magical number of 70 degrees! The bite is on! The Speckled Trout are eating almost anything thrown in front of them, try west of the Bird Rack on an outgoing tide or Chassahowitzka Point to the south on the incoming tide. M...

"Spring into Homosassa Fishing"

Report Date: February 21, 2012 “Spring into Homosassa Fishing” After the last few winters, we’ve experienced a rather mild winter this year here in Old Homosassa. Which has resulted in some exciting fishing reports for this early in the season. The Gulf water temperatures are around the 60 degree mark and the fish seem to know the arrival of spring is not far away. The Sheepshead have already spawned and are feeding like crazy. The Spanish Mackerel are early an...
