Born in Virginia, my father took me fishing for brook trout and bass in ponds and streams. Growing up I developed a passion for fishing and hunting. At the age of eight my family and I moved to Colorado. This is where my bass fishing passion really began. Although most of the fishing in Colorado was for trout there were many bass ponds near my house. I got hooked the first time bass fishing when I landed a 7 lb lunker with 6 lb test. That is when my dream formed to be a professional bass angler. At the age of sixteen, I joined Centennial Bass Club. That club got me hooked on tournament fishing and taught me many valuable lessons. I was cutting my teeth on all the nearby ponds and lakes learning finesse fishing in clear water, flipping in muddy water, rattle traps in weedy ponds, and consuming all the knowledge I could from TV shows, magazines, and books that I could. In fact, I was awarded 14 master angler awards for bass in the State of Colorado. After graduating high school I enrolled in Colorado State University and started my studies in fishery biology.

After a year, the bass fishing passion had me only thinking about one thing, BASS. I was still in the bass club and was leading the angler of the year points, but I wanted more. My family supported my dream and moved me to Lake Guntersville, in August 2004, so I could pursue my dream. In the first year I spent over 150 days on the lake, and eat/sleep bass fishing. I have since caught the biggest bass of my life, several times over, with three over nine pounds. In 2006, I went through the United States Coast Guard program and became USCG certified as a merchant marine officer.

My dream is to become a professional tournament angler but I started my guide business so I could fish for a living and teach others proven tactics on Lake Guntersville. In 2008, I will be fishing the Bassmaster Southern Opens as well as the ABA Weekend Series.

I would like to thank all my clients who have fished with me and for giving me the opportunity to teach. It has been a very rewarding experience. I would also like to thank all my sponsors Kistler Rods, Sunline, and Choo Choo Lures who have helped me along the way.

Come to beautiful Lake Guntersville Alabama
and catch the bass of a lifetime.

Fishing Reports

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 06.29.11

The fishing on Guntersville the last few weeks has been really good. You have to work at it and might fish alot of areas with little success but when you find them it's fast and furious. You can fish shallow or deep depending on your personal preference. The deep bite is a patience deal with being at the right place at the right time being critical. The shallow bite is consistent but you are not going to catch them cast after cast like you can deep. The best depths deep have been 10-18 ft a...

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 05.16.11

The fishing on Guntersville has been the best it has been all year. The last couple weeks have been great for numbers catching 40-50 everyday. Most the fish are 2-3 lbs with the occasional 4-5 lber. Last Thursday we had over 25 lbs as the bigger fish bit most the day. The fish are in all stages right now with some spawning, some postspawn, and some are in the summer patterns. Lately we have been catching fish on the Strike King Premier spinnerbait, Series 5 crankbait, KVD 2.5 crankbait, Spit N...

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 11.18.10

This report is for today. Had a full day trip with clients fun fishing. We looked for bigger fish all day choosing not to chase schooling fish. We threw a frog most the trip boating 14 with big fish over 6 and best 5 around 18 lbs. The frog bite should get better as long as the grass doesn't get blown away. I have days open after the 22nd. I also updated my 2010 gallery on my website and have special wintertime rates and Christmas gift certificates available.     Alex Davis &...

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 06.23.10

Fishing on Guntersville is great right now. You can catch fish shallow or deep however you prefer. If you want to throw topwaters, frogs, and flip a Choo Choo jig you can in the shallow milfoil. If you want to fish deep ledges in 12-20ft and try to catch a hundred a day its very possible. It seems the numbers are on the ledges but most are small with a bigger fish coming every twenty fish or so. The shallow bite is alot less numbers but the size is there. The Titan jig has been the best for...

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 03.29.10

Last week was slow during the beginning of the week with the bigger fish really moving up later in the week.   The first few days were hit and miss on numbers and quality. As the week went on the fish realy moved up with Friday and Saturday catching 40 fish with a 9lb 1 oz and 8lb 13 oz being our big fish. One day we had best 5 30 lbs and the next we had 28lbs. It seems like the lures doesn't matter catching fish on jerkbaits, traps, spinnerbaits, Big Bass Baits soft plastics, shal...

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 02.01.10

The fishing has really picked up in the last couple weeks. After the freezing weather the water has warmed up to around 45 degrees and the fish are feeding heavily. Had four trips last week and every trip we had 20 lbs or better and our big fish was 9 lbs. The fishing will only get better with all this warming weather. The fish are moving from the creek channels up onto the river flats and the flats where they will spawn. Best bait have been traps, Bait Inc Prototype crankbaits, and Moab C...

Guntersville Lake Fishing Report 12.18.09

The last couple weeks on Guntersville have been good. The numbers are down catching between 10-16 a day with a few fish over 5 lbs each trip. The fish have moved to the outside grass edges in 5-9ft. Best baits have been crankbaits, traps, and jerkbaits fished on the edges. I have days open in Dec and Jan and I am booking for 2010.
